ATTACK ON THE 4TH PILLAR OF DEMOCRACY

(The Quiver) : Panchyat elections are obstructed due to the violent activities going in the polling booth .The attacks and unethical activities are occurring in many polling booths in Odisha. One such incident occurred on Sunday , when 40 miscreants allegedly attacked on three journalists- Debashis Sahoo, Gulshan Ali Nawaz and Bijay Sahoo , while they were covering the unethical activities going at Bachol in Binjharpur area of Odisha’s Jajpur district .

Police have arrested at least 11 persons, including 5 women, over their alleged involvement in attacking journalists. As per reports . prime accused Rakesh Malik is among the arrested ones, Police had earlier detained a total of 25 accused in this connection. The other accused were being questioned.

On the basis of complaints lodged by the victims, Binjharpur police filed three separate cases and picked up 25 persons, including 10 women, for questioning.

Attacks on the fourth pillar of democracy either indicates the inefficiency of government in reserving the law and order system of the state or the party in power is misusing its power to gain benefits.
