IND VS SL, 1ST T20I: INDIA EYE WIN IN SERIES OPENER VS SL

(The Quiver): India will look to find a fine balance between being ruthless and giving opportunities to test the bench strength when they take on Sri Lanka in a 3-match T20I series from February 24. The two teams will meet in the first of the 3 T20Is on Thursday at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

In-form players Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul and Deepak Chahar getting ruled out of India’s T20I squad have added to skipper Rohit Sharma’s troubles. Sanju Samson has been included in India’s T20I squad.Ahead of the much-awaited T20 series opener, biggest challenge in front of Rohit is picking the best India XI against Sri Lanka.

A positive news for Rohit and team India is return of fit-again senior bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. It will be interesting to see what combination Rohit picks for the playing XI against Sri Lanka.

Team India management might repeat the experiment done in India’s last T20I against West Indies. Rohit demoted himself to number four batting position so that Ishan Kishan and Rituraj Gaikwad could open the innings.Newly-appointed vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah is returning to India’s T20 team after a long absence. He played his last T20 match against Namibia in the T-20 World Cup 2021.
