Miscreants Destroyed 40 Earthen ‘Chulhas’ Of Puri’s Jagannath Temple Kitchen

Puri (The Quiver) : On Sunday, Some unidentified persons allegedly rushed into the Puri Jagannath temple’s kitchen, also known as the ‘Rosa Ghara’ and destroyed 40 earthen chulhas following some dispute after the completion of traditional rituals on Saturday night.

Sources revealed , 30 chulhas are fully damaged and 10 are partially damaged due to attack. In the attack Lord jagannath temple’s kitchen one of the primary earthen chulhas “Tunusuara chulha” is known to be damaged.

After this incident questions are raising on the security measures at the sacred temple. How did the miscreants reached to the temple’s kitchen? Why temple’s security force did not stop them?

Confidential sources revealed , this attack is a result of internal rivalry between two groups of the temple.

Some observers even claimed that this attack is done intentionally to divert public attention from the illegal ongoing heritage corridor project around Puri Jagannath’s temple .

The matter of ongoing illegal heritage corridor project by the government , recently exploded in assembly which was challenged by bhubaneswar MP Aparjita Sarangi to which Puri MP and BJD leader in the Lok Sabha Pinaki Misra justified saying no such alleged illegal works are going on. “I have the NOC issued by the National Monument Authority (NMA) on 4th September 2021 which I had told in the House,” said Misra.

This incident has sparked resentment among lakhs of devotees in the state and outside. Following the incident, senior administrative officials, with the Puri Collector and the Superintendent of Police (SP) visited the temple to take stock of the situation.

Puri Collector, Samarth Varma said, “It seems that someone has damaged the chulhas in the wee hours. Already a joint inquiry has been started by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration [SJTA] Administrator [Niti] and additional SP [temple security]. We ensure the conduct of all the rituals and offering of Kothabhog to the deities today.”

According to Varma, efforts are underway to ensure the preparation of Mahaprasad to its normal amount by tomorrow. Other aspects, including CCTVs at entry points, will be ensured.“After the joint inquiry, stern action will be taken against those found guilty,” Varma added.

Today, Vir Vikram Jadav taken up additional charge as the chief administrator of Lord Jagannath temple adminstration. On his first day of joining this undesirable situation happened, which may stand as a challenge for him.
