RAJYA SABHA, LOK SABHA ADJOURNED SINE DIE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

(The Quiver): Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Thursday, a day ahead of the scheduled end of the Budget Session.

The Lok Sabha was also adjourned indefinitely as soon as the House met for the day.

As the Lower House met for the day, Speaker Om Birla made the valedictory reference, summing up the proceedings of the session. He later adjourned the House sine die.

Similarly, Rajya Sabha’s proceedings were adjourned sine die without the customary closing remarks by the Chairman after the Shiv Sena and other opposition parties created a ruckus over price rise and the alleged misappropriation of funds collected to save aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.

As soon as the listed official papers were laid on the table, Shiv Sena MPs including Sanjay Raut and Priyanka Chaturvedi were up on their feet, trying to raise the issue of an FIR registered against the BJP’s Kirit Somaiya for allegedly siphoning off donations collected for saving INS Vikrant.

The total productivity of the eighth session of the 17th Lok Sabha was 129 per cent, said the Speaker while informing the members about the work done in the session. He further said that the session began on January 31 and a total of 27 sittings were held which lasted for about 177 hours and 50 minutes. Birla thanked all the members for their conduct for successful budget session.

A total of 12 government bills were introduced and 13 bills were passed during the session.
