Patiala(The Quiver): Again a new life started for Cricketer turned politician , Navjot Singh Sidhu but this time in prision of Patiala jail. After Supreme court sentenced Sidhu to one year imprisonment finding him guilty in the 1988 road rage case.

On Friday , former Punjab congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu became prisoner number 241383 of Patiala jail after he surrendered before the Patiala court. After moving into jail , he was allocated with a prisoner number and got shifted to barrack number 10.

As revealed by sources, Sidhu will not be given any special treatment during his tenure in jail. He would be sharing the cell with eight prisoners and will be sleeping on a cement bed.

As said by sources, Yesterday , Sidhu was given dal and roti at 7.15 pm as per the jail manual. However, he denied it, citing ill health. He only ate salad and some fruit. Sidhu has asked for a special diet as he is allergic to wheat and has a liver problem.

Sidhu’s media advisor Surinder Dalla said that he has not been eating roti for a long time. That’s why he has asked for a special diet. “He also gave information about the same during the medical examination yesterday,” Surinder said.

WHAT JAIL FACILITIES PROVIDED TO SIDHU?

Sidhu recieved four sets of white kurta-pyjamas, a chair-table, a cupboard, two turbans, a blanket, a bed, three sets of underwear and a vest, two towels, a mosquito net, a copy and a pen, a pair of shoes, two bedcovers, two pillow covers.

The Supreme Court rejected the plea by Gurnam Singh’s family to convict Sidhu of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, under the Indian Penal Code on Thursday. However, the court sentenced him to one year in prison.
