GOVERNMENT DESTROYED BUDHIA NOW SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER BUDHIA

Bhubaneswar(The Quiver) : CM Naveen Pattnaik is doing every possible attempt to establish Odisha  as sports hub in global level . The CM further took one step forward to achieve his target aim by introducing Olympic Values Education Programme in 90 schools of Odisha through virtual mode . A pilot project in schools of Rourkela and Bhubaneswar has been started too.

But our CM is building palace on ashes of destroyed talents. Many talented sports persons of Odisha who had represented India in international levels are now struggling for a living but the state government do not think it necessary to bring them back to their sports form . One of them is The lost boy Budhia Singh who had attracted world-wide attention at tender age of 4 years by running from Puri to Bhubaneswar, even a biopic film is made on Budhia titled ” Budhia Singh Born to Run”.

At the age of four Budia had astonished the whole world by covering a long distance 65 kilometres from Puri to Bhubaneswar in seven hours and two minutes along it he was listed as the world’s youngest marathon runner in the 2006 edition of the Limcas Book of records . He was given a Rajiv Gandhi Award for excellence in 2006.

Now where is the wonder boy Budhia Singh? who has chained this running spirit who had astonished the world ? If the government is so sincere in establishing Odisha as sports hub  then why destroyed this exceptional born talent of Odisha ? Budhia could have become a popular Olympic figure if he would have been properly trained for Olympics. Is Government providing any special training to Budhia Singh? After destroying a deserving Olympian , Odisha goverment is boosting Olympic  Values education Programme.

Budhia was missing for 10 years  and came infront of  public eyes as a grown up teen of 15 years, during a discussion programme of  NDTV news channel , where he had complained of being neglected, for not getting the required training, proper diet or care during his stay in sports hostel .

Was Budhia only the responsibilty of his coach Biranchi Das? as after his death the state government admitted him in sports hostel but  did not ensured whether his training was going well or not.

In true words it can be said Naveen Government has severely destroyed the bright career of a flourishing sports person who would have been a Olympic identity of present times. After destroying an exceptional talent ,now looking up for new sports talents in schools. Not only Budhia Singh but many lost sports talents of Odisha are finding a way out to again contribute back to sports but Naveen government lost the moon while counting  the stars. We are not saying the Naveen government’s  such initiatives are bad but want to remind that it is also the responsibility of government to provide proper training and facilities to the neglected sports persons like Budhia Singh and bring them back to their form ,so that they can represent India in international sports event and could bring glory for the country.
