UTTARAKHAND CM PUSHKAR SINGH DHAMI THANKS PEOPLE OF CHAMPAWAT FOR HIS BYPOLL VICTORY

(The Quiver) : On Friday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami won the Champawat bypoll by a count of 55,025 votes.

Following his victory, Dhami took to Twitter and thanked the people of Champawat for “showering their love and blessings” in the form of votes. “My heart is very emotional with the love and blessings showered by you through votes in Champawat by-election, I am silent,” the chief minister tweeted moments after his victory was all but officially confirmed.

In the recently held Assembly polls, BJP became the first ruling party to be voted back to power in Uttarakhand but  Dhami lost the election from the Khatima seat to Congress candidate Bhuwan Chandra Kapri. This time , Pushkar Singh Dhami beat out the Congress’ Nirmala Gahtori and the Samajwadi Party’s Manoj Kumar Bhatt, as well as an independent candidate in Himanshu Garkoti. Dhami recorded over 58,000 votes to Gahtori’s 3,233. 

 Prime minister Narendra Modi tweeted his congratulations, saying he was ‘confident’ that Pushkar Singh Dhami would ‘work even harder for the progress of Uttarakhand’.
