(The Quiver) Rising New Omicron Variant cases in India is matter to be taken with utmost seriousness. 200 cases so far has been reported previously, now again the latest cases reached to peak 213 in number.
Although the death cases due to Omicron has not yet been found or reported but its contagious rate is spreading among the people with a speed. Delhi and Maharashtra are contributing the highest rising cases, lifting the Country’s new Variant cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare 213 fresh cases of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus has been reported. Maharashtra recorded 11 new infections of the variant which took the tally of cases to 54 in the state . Likewise Omicron cases in the capital have increased to 57.
In Odisha two people are tested positive of Omicron Variant of Covid-19, Bhubaneswar -based Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) confirmed the existence of the variant in the two people after conducting the genome sequencing of 12 samples. Both the people were known to return from foreign nations – Nigeria and Qatar, respectively. On viewing these cases Bomikhal is announced to be containment zone by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation( BMC).
What WHO has to say on Omicron?
WHO is not clear whether Omicron infection is more transmissible or less transmissible but according to reported cases its getting transmissible rapidly among people. Severity of the new variant is not also cleared compared to other Covid 19 virus other variant infections as Delta, by WHO .
Symptoms
The symptoms of infection include weakness, tiredness, headache, low grade fever and pain in the throat and some primary symptoms of covid19. No, severe symptoms yet been reported so far.
How effective are current treatments on this variant of covid19 virus?
Corticosteroids and IL6 Receptor Blockers will still be effective for managing patients with severe COVID-19. Other treatments will be assessed to see if they are still as effective given the changes to parts of the virus in the Omicron variant.
But inspite of all these , early warnings are already given that the Omicron variant of covid -19 “at least three times more transmissible than the Delta variant”.So, the center directed the states to impose restrictions in the districts marking upon the high positivity rate , including , imposition of the night curfew, strict regulation of large gatherings and the containment measures to be taken even more seriously on viewing the upcoming New Year.
