ALL ODISHA CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BEGIN FROM 16

Bhubaneswar (The Quiver) : For the first time, the All Odisha Chess Championship will be held on the KT Global School campus under the banner of the All Odisha Chess Association.

The event is organised by IIG Sports Academy under banner of Odisha Chess Association. The Chess Championship will be held from July 16 to July 18.

The IIG Sports Academy is providing a new and world-class platform for contestants to connect with chess. Many contestants across the state will participate in this championship, international players can also take part in the competition.

Rs 500 is fixed as the entry fees for this competition while the entry fees for schoolchildren is kept just Rs 300.

The competition will be played in 5 categories ,i.e Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 age categories.

The closing ceremony of the championship will be held on July 18 at 4.30pm. The champion of this competition will be awarded with an amount of Rs 7,000 and trophy .The runners-up will be awarded with Rs 5,500 and trophies. The 3rd position holder will be awarded with an amount of Rs 4000 and trophy while the 4th and the 5th rank holder will be getting Rs 3000 and Rs 2,500 with trophies respectively. The competitors positioned at 6th to 10th ranks will be awarded with an amount of Rs 2000 and trophies while 11th to 15th rank holders will receive an amount of Rs 1500 and trophies.

The purpose of this tournament is to promote chess and create opportunities for new talents, to provide players with grassroots infrastructure and to encourage and promote chess in Odisha.
