Rohit’s World Record; 13 Successive T20 wins

(The Quiver) : On Thursday, Rohit Sharma became the first captain to win 13 consecutive T20I games. The record was set by the Indian captain following India’s 50-run victory against England in the opening Twenty20 match of the three-match series on Thursday at Southampton’s Rose Bowl.
Beginning with the series against Bangladesh, Rohit led India to victories over New Zealand, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, and England during his 13-match winning streak.
It is important to note that since taking over as India captain full-time when Virat Kohli resigned, Rohit is yet to lose a T20I match.
Taking about the match played on Thursday, Rohit-led India put up an all-round show to lead the three-match series against England.
Rohit, who had returned to Indian squad after missing the rescheduled fifth test against England due to COVID -19, scored 24 of 14 balls before being dismissed by Moeen Ali. He hit five fours during his quick fire cameo.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya, who led India to T20 series win over Ireland, put up an all-round effort to help India win the game with ease.
Hardik scored 51 of 33 balls with the bat. His knock included six fours and one six. With the ball he returned figures of 4/33.
His wickets include those of Jason Roy, Dawid Malan, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran.
India scored 198/8 batting first. Suryakumar Yadav was second highest run-scorer for India with 39 off 19 balls while Deepak Hooda scored 33 of 17 balls.
In reply, England were all out for 148 runs with Moeen Ali 36 of 20 balls being the highest run-scorer for the side.
Meanwhile, in the post match press conference, Rohit opened up about India’s success mantra in the shortest format of cricket. “Great performance by ball one. All batters showed intent. Although the pitch was good, we played some good shots and never got ahead of the game. You got to make use of those six overs in the power play. There is a certain approach we want to take in the powerplay.
I was impressed with (Hardik) bowing, something he wants to do more in the future. The reason we wanted to bat because the ball will swing under the lights. Both the new ball bowlers used the swing and stopped the batters. We were sloppy in the field. Those catches should have been taken. Pretty sure we will field pretty well in the coming games”. Rohit added.
