INJURED VIRAT KOHLI COULD STAY AWAY FROM 2ND ODI

(The Quiver) : Indian batter Virat Kohli who had missed out on the first ODI against England on Tuesday due to groin injury, is likely to sit out from the second ODI as well. According to sources, Virat is yet to recover from the groin injury and is unlikely for the second ODI on Thursday against England.

During the first ODI match on Tuesday, Virat was replaced by batter Shreyas Iyer here at Kennington Oval. Coming to the match, a blistering partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan and a six-wicket haul by Jasprit Bumrah guided Team India to a 10-wicket win over England in the first ODI of three-match series here at the Kennington Oval.Rohit Sharma scored 76 runs off 58 balls while Shikhar Dhawan scored 31 runs off 54 balls to help India chase down 111 runs in just 18.4 overs. Mohammad Shami took 3 wickets as Prasidh Krishna got one.

The Men in Blue crossed the 50-mark in 10 overs with both the batters standing unbeaten in the crease. Rohit brought up his half-century in 49 balls and helped India reach the 100-run mark in the 18th over.It was their 18th 100-run partnership for the 1st wicket. With this feat, they inched closer to the long standing tally of 26 century stands between Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.

India gained a 1-0 lead with a 10 wicket win against the hosts.Both the teams will square for the second ODI on Thursday at Lord’s in London.
