CHELSEA ROPE IN RAHEEM STERLING FROM MANCHESTER CITY

(The Quiver) : On Wednesday, Chelsea announced that they have completed the signing of England forward Raheem Sterling from Manchester City. Sterling has a five year contract with the blues and has already linked up with the squad in Los Angeles where the team is currently on their pre-season tour. The deal is worth up to $50million.
The 27-year-old played 47 games for City last season in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing nine assists. Sterling began his senior career at Liverpool before transferring to City in July 2015. He quickly made himself a fixture in the front line of the Manchester club, scoring 131 goals in 339 games for Pep Guardiola’s team.
The English forward has been consistent performer for Manchester City over the past seven seasons, hitting double figures in goals in each of the campaigns and winning nine major honors during his time. He has also won the premier league title four times.”Raheem Sterling is a serial winner and his signing is an important step in strengthening our squad. We are delighted for Raheem to return to London with Chelsea, and we look forward to seeing his world-class talent on display on Stamford Bridge,” said Chelsea’s chairman Todd Boehly.
“First and foremost, it’s a pleasure to be here. I’ve obviously achieved a lot in my career so far, and I’m really looking forward to doing that in the Chelsea shirt, under Thomas’s management.” said Sterling.
“London is my home and where it all started for me, and it’s amazing I now have the opportunity to play with my friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge. I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon.
“Sterling, capped 77 times by England, will add much-needed firepower to Chelsea’s attack following their struggles in front of goal last season and the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan. Thomas Tuchel’s side third last season.
“I can’t wait to get going now and continue to do my taking on the pitch,” he said.
