(The Quiver) : On Sunday, Jamaican’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce made history as she won her fifth world 100m title, as Team USA claimed four other crowns on offer in Eugene. Shericka Jackson won silver in 10.73 seconds, a personal best, and Elaine Thompson-Herah, a four-time Olympic sprint winner, won bronze (10.81).

Raser-Pryce is also the first athlete to ever win five gold medals in a track event at the World Championships in the same discipline, with Sunday’s win following 100m gold’s in 2009, 2013, 2015 and 2019.
“I can’t imagine the amount of times I’ve had setbacks and I’ve bounced back and I’m here again”, said Fraser-Pryce.
“It’s special, It’s my fifth world title in the 100m, and doing it at 35, yes I said 35!”
“Today was the right time and I’m so, so grateful for the continuous support.”
Asher smith finished fourth, equaling her national record of 10.83 sec.
“35 years old! A mother! 10.67! 5th world title! Yesss @realshellyannfp it’s your night!!!” tweeted Felix, a leading advocate for female athletics rights.
It’s the first time a nation has swept the medals in the Women’s at the worlds and came just a day after Fred Kerley led a US sweep of the men’s 100m.
