(The Quiver) : Olympic Champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen was overhauled by Britain sensation Jake Wightman as he won a nail biting win in the men’s 1500m at Eugene.

During the race, the 27-year old stepped on the gas with 200m still there, as he set a new personal feat of 3:29.23.

The Britain man struggled to understand the magnitude of what he had just accomplished as he fell to the ground and continuously mouthed the phrase “Oh my God” to himself.
“It most likely won’t sink in till after I retire. It’s crazy,” Wightman declared. “I was escaping death on the home stretch.

“That’s my son and he is a world champion,” Wightman’s father Goeff said.

The other two with silver and bronze are Ingebrigtsen (3:29.47) and Spaniard Mohamed Katir (3.29.90).
