Golden arm Neeraj pulls out of Commonwealth Games 2022

(The Quiver) : Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has withdrawn from the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, which begin on July 28.

According to sources, he sustains a groin injury while competing in the World Athletics Championships final where he won a historic silver for India.

He has been advised one month’s rest.

Nitizens showered him with wishes of recovery on Twitter.

“Neeraj Chopra won’t compete in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He is not fit to complete because he was hurt during the World Athletic Championship finals. He informed us about it.” Rajeev Mehta Secretary General of IOA said.

This is a major setback for India because the 24-year-old, who won gold at the CWG 2018 games in Gold Coast, was expected to compete for the gold medal at the Birmingham Games.
