Asia Cup 2022 to be hosted by United Arab Emirates

(The Quiver): The Asia Cup 2022 has got its new hosts in the name of United Arab Emirates. It replaced by Sri-Lanka as the venue which is due to start next month. The reason is due to ongoing political and economic crisis in the country.

Sri-Lanka will however remain the hosts of the nine-team tournament which will be played from August 27th to September 11th.

Shammi Silva, the president of Sri-Lanka completely agrees with the decision of relocating the tournament. He says, “Fully stand by the ACC decision.”

The nation, which is crippled by the economic crisis, is currently experiencing shortage of food, fuel etc.

“While Sri Lanka was the preferred location to host the Asia Cup, the decision to move the event to the UAE was decided after careful consideration,” said Jay Shah.

“Sri Lanka will continue to reclaim hosting rights while the replacement location will be the United Arab Emirates. The Asia Cup edition is crucial because it will enable Asian teams to fully prepare for the ICC World Cup 2022.”
