9 Government Officials Suspended by Lieutenant Governor

(The Quiver): On Saturday, over their involvement in the revamped Delhi excise policy 2021-22, the Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has suspended 9 government officials.

The two senior-most bureaucrats who received punishment were the then-Deputy Excise Commissioner, a 2003 batch DANICS officer Anand Kumar Tiwari, and the then-Excise Commissioner, an IAS officer from the 2012 AGMUT class named Arava Gopi Krishna.

The LG has ordered disciplinary proceedings against 3 other Adhoc DANICS officers and 4 more officials of excise department.

According of sources, “This decision of LG has taken in view of severe lapses on the part of officers concerned in the implementation of the Excise policy.”

Last week, the Delhi administration made the decision to go back to the Excise Policy 2021-22, claiming that it had “not been able to accomplish the desired objectives” of higher collections.
