Oath taking Ceremony of 14th Vice President of India held Today

(The Quiver): On Thursday, by defeating Margaret Alva, Jagdeep Dhankhar took oath as the 14th Vice President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. President of India Droupadi Murmu who recently  became the fifteenth President of the country administered the oath office to Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The former governor of West Bengal secured 528 or 74% total valid votes which is the highest winning margin in the last six vice-presidential elections since 1997. The number of valid votes of Margaret Alva was 182 or 26% votes.

“The nation was “glad to have a Kisan Putra Vice President who has the superior legal knowledge and intellectual prowess.” PM Modi said.

He served as the governor of West Bengal from July 2019 to 2022.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu were present in the oath taking ceremony on Thursday.

He was elected as the Vice President on August 6th 2022.
