Islamist Attack Takes Lives of 42 Malian Soldiers in Tessit

(The Quiver): Near a town a tessit, 42 Malian soldiers and 22 were injured were gunned down on Sunday, the government confirmed the news on Wednesday as it held Islamic State responsible for this attack.

A decade long-insurgency by extremist groups that is spread throughout West Africa’s Sahel area is considered one of the deadliest attacks for the Malian army.

Armed terrorist groups, most likely affiliated with the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS), launched a sophisticated and well-coordinated attack on Tessit units of the Malian army.

The intense attack was characterized by the usage of drones, bombs and artillery.

During the hours, the Malian soldiers killed 37 enemies in a high intensified war. Attacks in Mali is very common where the country in West Africa is ruled by military junta.

In late July, an attack on the main military base was claimed by Al-Qaeda affiliate.
