Upbeat Zimbabwe stuns Australia with Historic win
(The Quiver): On Saturday, Zimbabwe went on to create history by registering a three-wicket win over Australia in Townsville. It was Zimbabwe’s first win on Australia’s home soil.
As it Happened
After send in to bat by Zimbabwe’s skipper Regis Chakabva, Australia made a terrible start with the bat after losing 5 wickets inside 20 overs. David Warner’s valiant 94 (96) balls took the hosts to a mere 141 runs on the board.
It was a collective bowling performance by Zimbabwe, but the chief architect with the ball was Ryan Burl as he finished with 5-10 in his short spell.
In the 2nd innings, Zimbabwe made a cautious start with the bat as T. Marumani (35) and Regis Chakabva (37) of 72 balls in the end ensured Zimbabwe 141-7 to a historic win over Australia by 3 wickets in Tony Ireland Stadium.
Josh Hazelwood picked up 3-30 in his 10 over spell for the hosts. Australia went on to win the series 2-1 in Townsville.
