Walk-In, Online Registration Vaccination For 15-18 Age Group

(The Quiver) After the announcement of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 25, 2021, the vaccination for the age-group 15-18 is scheduled to begin from January 3, 2022 while precautionary dose vaccination for the vulnerable categories will begin from January 10.

People who come under vulnerable categories are healthcare workers (HCW), frontline workers (FLW), and those in the 60 age group and above with co-morbidity (simultaneous presence of two or more diseases or medical conditions in a patient).

Both the section of categories for receiving vaccination and precautionary dose vaccination can choose for walk-in or online registration. Online registration can be done through CoWIN app available for vaccination of children in the 15-18 age group, who would start getting doses against COVID-19 on January 3.

In the context of the vaccination of the age group 15-18 years, the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, informed the states and Union Territories that only ‘Covaxin’ is to be administer in this population category.

As informed by the Union Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan, to states and Union Territories that those who are 60 years old or above, with comorbidities, who have already received two doses of covid-19 vaccines, will be provided with the “precautionary dose” on the doctor’s advice from January 10,2022.

The healthcare workers and the frontline workers will be provided third dose from January 10. If required, in certain cases they will have to provide their employment certificate.

The central government informed the states that they can designate some COVID Vaccination Centre (CVC)s. States were informed that they have the option to designate some COVID Vaccination Centre (CVC)s for the 15-18 age group exclusively which can also be reflected on Co-WIN.

States were advised to allocate separate COVID Vaccination Centres, separate session sites and separate queue (if at same session where adult vaccination is ongoing. Two separate vaccination teams would be allocated for providing vaccination to different sections of people (one section between age 15-18 and the other section belonging to the vulnerable categories) . To ensure that there is no confusion in providing the right vaccines to both the sections of population.
